quran recitation

For us to die while reciting the Qur’an as Uthman (RadhiyAllahu ‘anhu) became a martyr whilst reciting the Qur’an . Ibn Kathir said,  “Whoever lives upon something will die upon it, and whoever dies upon something will be resurrected upon it” . He based this on the verse in Surah Al-Jathiyah [45:21]  {Do those who commit evil deeds  really think that We will deal with them in the same way as those who believe and do  righteous deeds, that they will be alike in their living and their dying? How badly they  judge!}   10- For it to bring us closer to Allah by loving His words. The prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,  “You are (on the day of judgement) with whom you  love ” [Reported in Muslim]   11- For it to increase our Iman. Allah says in Surah At-Tawbah [9:124]  {And when a surah is revealed, some of them ask “which of you did this increase him in Iman?”. As for the ones who believe, it increased them in Iman and they rejoice}   12- So that we can increase our knowledge of

WE SHOULD READ THE HOLY QURAN FOR MANY REASONS

WE SHOULD READ THE HOLY  QURAN  FOR MANY REASONS, IN FACT MORE THAN 20 REASONS, BUT THAT IS WHAT I HAVE COMPILED:   1- For it to intercede for us on the day of judgement. The prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,  “ Recite the Qur’an  for it will come as an intercessor for its people on the  day of judgement”  [Reported in Muslim]   2- So that we can increase in reward. Abdullah ibn Mas’ud narrated the prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) mentioned that  “whoever recites one letter/word from the  book of Allah, then for him is a reward, and a reward is multiplied by ten” [Reported in Tirmidhi].   3- For it to fill our heart. The prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,  “The man who has nothing of the Qur’an inside him is like a ruined house”  [Reported in Tirmidhi]   4- For us to memorise and act on every verse we recite so that we can ascend in Jannah. The prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,  “It is said to the one who recites the Qur’an, recite and ascend, an

WHY SHOULD WE READ QURAN?

WHY SHOULD WE READ  QURAN ?  Alhamdulillah, and All perfect thanks and praises are due to the Almighty Allah, who has brought down the Qur’an. I send peace and blessings upon whom the Qur’an was descended upon, Prophet Muhammad, his household, his companions and all those who follow his guided path till judgement day.   The Prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,  “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn  the Qur’an and teach it.”  And said,  “Verily actions are but by intentions, and every  person shall have (be rewarded for) what they intended”  [Reported in Bukhari & Muslim].   Maximising the intentions is the trade of the hearts of the sahabah (May  Allah be pleased with them) and the scholars, and those who know Allah very well. They used to carry out one action whilst having many intentions behind this action, so that they are rewarded abundantly for every intention. It is due to this that Ibn Kathir said,  “The intention reaches further than the action”.

Tajweed  Mushaf: You can get a new Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an), called Mushaf at-Tajweed, which has the rules of Tajweed incorporated in the text of the Qur’an in colour coding! This is very helpful as it prompts you as you go along. There is also a computer program you can buy with it which highlights Tajweed rules with recitation.   Try and apply the rules you learn to the Surahs you have already memorised and don’t become lazy about reciting correctly. You might have to revise the surahs by looking back at them.   Practice and repetition will make perfect in sha Allah: As Ibn al-Jazaree says in his poem about acquiring Tajweed: ‘And there is no obstacle between it (learning Tajweed) and leaving it, except that a person must exercise his mouth with it!’. And always remember “And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember; then is there anyone who will remember (or receive admonition)?” [Quran al-Qamar 54:17].

HELPFUL TIPS TOWARDS LEARNING TAJWEED:

HELPFUL TIPS TOWARDS LEARNING  TAJWEED : You must find a Qur’an teacher who has studied Tajweed to listen to your quran recitation and correct you. Tajweed cannot merely be learnt from books, because the movements of your mouth, as well as the sounds, are important and only a teacher can correct you and make sure you are applying the rules correctly. Sometimes local Mosques will run classes. Qur’an recitation is a science which was passed down generation by generation through teachers, not just books, with a direct line to the Prophet (peace be upon him)   Find a book containing the rules of Tajweed and learn each rule little by little, applying it as you go along with the help of your teacher. There are many concise Arabic books and in English there are some books as well as tapes to help. Look for books with some drawings showing you how to pronounce each letter.   Listen to Qur’an tapes of reciters who recite very clearly, at a medium or slow speed (like Sheikh Hudhaify or Sheikh

Qur’an is the word of Allah

We should put all our efforts into reciting the Qur’an with as much feeling as we can! Have you ever prayed behind an Imam who read with feeling? Well the Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Truly the one who has one of the finest voices among the people for reciting the Qur’an is the one whom you think fears Allah when you hear him recite.” And once when the Prophet (peace be upon him) complimented Abu Moosaa al-Ash’ari on the beauty of his recitation, Abu Moosaa said “Had I known you were there, I would have made my voice more pleasant and emotional for you.”   Let us remember, that the Qur’an is the word of Allah. In it we find exhortations, warnings, glad-tidings, parables, stories of the past, commands and prohibitions. Aayaat to make us think, reflect, cry, fear, hope, love, fall down in prostration! How can we recite all of this without feeling!?  When we recite an aayah of Qur’an we should imagine that we are trying to feel and convey the full message behind that aayah. Perha
